Turkish photography will be promoted in Italy
IUE Lecturer Emre Küheylan was invited as a curator and speaker to the world-famous photography festival called 'Photolux' to be held in Italy. Küheylan, whose photographs have been exhibited in many countries and been a jury member at international festivals, will speak at the panel on contemporary Turkish photography in Italy in June. Küheylan, who will also undertake the curatorship of a screening in which 6 Turkish photographers will take part with approximately 150 works, will make a great contribution to the promotion of our country in terms of art at the festival themed ‘You can call it love’.
Emre Küheylan, Vice Director of IUE Vocational School, and Instructor in Radio and Television Programming, started his career in a Germany-based photography agency. After various assignments in international photography organizations, Küheylan started to transfer his experiences as an academic to the students at IUE.
HE WAS THE FIRST TURK ELECTED TO THE JURY
Küheylan's works have been exhibited in 10 countries so far. Attracting the attention of organizations abroad with his success, Küheylan became the first Turk to be selected to the jury of the International Photography Awards (IPA), one of the most prestigious photography competitions in the world, last year. Küheylan, who will represent our country at the 'Photolux' festival to be held in Lucca, Italy this year, added a new one to his achievements.
THOUSANDS ATTEND
Stating that he was proud to receive an invitation from the festival in Italy, Küheylan said, “The festival, one of the symbolic events of Italy, has been taking place with international participation since 2005. Visited by thousands of people every year, the festival is a well-known and followed event in the field of photography. I was asked to give a speech about contemporary Turkish photography and organize a screening at the festival. I have been preparing for this for a long time. Contacting Ahmet Sel, Aslı Çelikel, Can Dağarslanı, Cemre Yeşil Gönenli, Elif Karakoç and Oğulcan Arslan from Turkey, we created a selection of approximately 150 works that fit the theme of the festival this year. I think that my speech, in which I will tell about the status and unknown aspects of Turkish photography, is also important for the promotion of our country in this field. My aim is to represent our country in the best way possible at the festival that I will attend at the beginning of June.”
