Course Objectives With this course, the student will be given the competences for assembling household refrigerators which also refers to mechanical refrigeration cycle.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to make preparations for assembling household refrigerators
  • will be able to assemble the refrigeration circuit elements
  • will be able to assemble the electric circuit elements
  • will be able to charge the refrigerant
  • will be able to operate the refrigeration circuit
  • will be able to evaluate the performance of refrigeration circuit in operational condition
Course Description Refrigerating systems. Cabinet assembly. Compressors, condensers. Evaporators, filters, capillary tubes. Thermals, relays, capacitors. Thermostats, fans. Refrigerant fluids and oils. Pressurization, vacuum and leak test. Charge, discharge and recovery operations. Measurement and evaluation of pressure, temperature and flow. Theoretical and applied pressure-enthalpy diagram. Calculation of heat capacity of the refrigeration elements.

1 Understanding the fundamental concepts about air-conditioning and cooling, learning main and auxilary components used in air-conditioning systems and explaining function of them. X
2 Recognizing instruments and devices used in air-conditioning systems and gaining the ability of handcraft for constructing this systems in accordance with work safety rules (welding, pipe cutting and bending, countersinking, etc...). Having knowledge about the first aid required first intervention. X
3 Reading projects about the air conditioning and cooling systems, drawing projects by both hand and computer. X
4 Recognizing electrical controller and automatic control components and circuits used in air conditioning and cooling systems, making connection. X
5 Calculating heat and device capacity for choosing air-conditioning, cooling and heating systems, choosing the suitable device. X
6 Sizing and installing duct system for ventilation and ducted air-conditioning systems. X
7 Installing air conditioning and cooling systems (domestic and commercial coolers, cool stores, individual and central air conditioning, etc...), identificating and repairing related faults and making preventing maintenance. X
