As part of the World Cabin Crew Day celebration on 31 May, Pegasus Cabin Chief Devrim Karar met with our students and lecturers at an event moderated by our program member, Lecturer Ayça Mezde.

During the session, Devrim Karar shared his professional experience and insights into the vital role of cabin crew in the aviation industry, the current dynamics of the profession, and the key competencies expected from future cabin crew members. He also offered valuable advice on career development, recruitment processes, teamwork, and effective communication to students preparing for a career in aviation.

The event attracted great interest from our students and concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Participants had the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge from an experienced aviation professional and receive practical guidance for their future careers.

Organized by the Travel and Language Programs Coordination of the Vocational School at İzmir University of Economics, the 5th Tourism Days took place on 13 May 2026 under the theme of "Artificial Intelligence." As part of the event, leading representatives from the industry shared their knowledge, experiences, and insights on the impact of artificial intelligence on the tourism and aviation sectors.

Within the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program session, Vatan Jet General Manager Aykut Moroğlu and Quality and Safety Systems Manager İhsan Bayram participated as guest speakers. They shared valuable perspectives on the use of artificial intelligence in aviation, digital transformation in operational processes, safety management, and the future of aviation professions.

The event attracted significant interest from our students and concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals, gain up-to-date knowledge, and broaden their perspectives on future career opportunities in the aviation sector.

As part of the "Apprentices Ask the Masters" event organized by the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program, retired SunExpress Cabin Chief and Instructor Figen Öksüz met with our students.

During the event, students received both theoretical and hands-on training on Unruly Passenger Management and the use of the Restraint Kit, two essential components of cabin safety. Drawing on her extensive industry experience, Figen Öksüz shared valuable insights into handling disruptive passengers, effective crew coordination, and ensuring the safety and security of everyone on board.

The practical training was met with great interest from our students and concluded with an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with valuable professional knowledge and real-world experience.

The Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program at the İzmir University of Economics Vocational School held its annual "Cabin Crew on the Ground, Everything in the Sky" event, providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they acquired throughout the semester.

Held in the program's mock-up cabin classroom, the event featured demonstrations of essential cabin crew competencies, including safety demonstrations, emergency procedures, passenger welcoming, in-flight catering services, cabin announcements, and crew coordination. The event was attended by the university's administrators, academic staff, and administrative personnel, allowing students to showcase their skills in a realistic cabin environment.

Supporting the program's practice-oriented approach to education, "Cabin Crew on the Ground, Everything in the Sky" enabled students to transform their theoretical knowledge into practical experience while further developing the professional competencies required for their future careers in the aviation industry.

As the Aviation Departments of the İzmir University of Economics Vocational School, we organize an annual technical visit to İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport for our first-year students. This year's visit took place on 18 December under the guidance of our faculty members.

During the technical visit, our students had the opportunity to observe airport operations firsthand. They gained comprehensive insights into terminal operations, apron activities, ground handling services, aircraft turnaround operations, baggage and passenger handling processes, safety and security procedures, and the coordination among different operational units within the airport. Observing these processes in a real-world environment enabled students to reinforce the theoretical knowledge acquired in class while developing a deeper understanding of airport operations.

The technical visit provided our students with valuable industry exposure and practical learning opportunities, contributing significantly to their professional development and helping them gain a better understanding of the dynamic nature of the aviation sector.

SunExpress Cabin Business Development and Services Manager Çağrı Çobanoğlu and Cabin Operations Manager Selma Giden met with our students at the event organized as part of the 7 December World Civil Aviation Day, moderated by our faculty member, Lecturer Ayça Mezde.

During the talk, our guests shared their experiences on cabin operations, service quality, career planning, and the essential qualities required to become a successful aviation professional. The event, which attracted great interest from our students, continued with an interactive Q&A session. The valuable insights shared by our guests provided inspiration and made a meaningful contribution to our students' professional development.

Students of Civil Air Transportation Management and Civil Aviation Cabin Services Programs at Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) organized a technical visit to Istanbul Airport hosted by the world-famous airline Emirates.

Yağmur Arslan (20), who graduated from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program this year, got a job at Qatar Airways, the world-famous brand of the industry, as soon as she received her diploma. 

The 2nd Flying Colors Challenge, a paper plane contest co-organized by Izmir University of Economics Vocational School Civil Aviation Cabin Services, and Civil Aviation Transportation Management Programs for the first time last year, took place on Friday, 3 May at 13.00 at the Ceremony Field on Campus. The colorful, entertaining event was dedicated to the first Turkish Civil Aviation School, established on 21 April 1932 by Vecihi Hürkuş, and to first students of the school, 2 females and 10 males. Trainers from the Turkish Aeronautical Association taught the competing students how to make paper planes before the contest and at the end of the contest; the winners were given their awards.
