İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi tarafından düzenlenen Turizm Günleri kapsamında gerçekleştirilen “Havacılıkta Yapay Zekâ” temalı konferansa, TAV Adnan Menderes Havalimanı Terminal İşletme Müdürü Meryem Nural Sarıer konuşmacı olarak katıldı. Havacılık sektöründeki deneyimlerini ve yapay zekânın sektöre etkilerini öğrencilerle paylaşan Sarıer, geleceğin havacılık vizyonuna ilişkin değerli bilgiler aktardı.

Yiğit Laçin, CEO of YDA Dalaman Airport, met with our students at an event organized as part of World Civil Aviation Day on December 7. Moderated by Lect. Çiğdem Bilal, one of our department’s members, the talk focused on airport management, leadership, and the future of the aviation industry. Laçin shared his experience and insights in an inspiring and engaging session.

As part of the World Cabin Crew Day celebration on 31 May, Pegasus Cabin Chief Devrim Karar met with our students and lecturers at an event moderated by our program member, Lecturer Ayça Mezde.

During the session, Devrim Karar shared his professional experience and insights into the vital role of cabin crew in the aviation industry, the current dynamics of the profession, and the key competencies expected from future cabin crew members. He also offered valuable advice on career development, recruitment processes, teamwork, and effective communication to students preparing for a career in aviation.

The event attracted great interest from our students and concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Participants had the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge from an experienced aviation professional and receive practical guidance for their future careers.

Organized by the Travel and Language Programs Coordination of the Vocational School at İzmir University of Economics, the 5th Tourism Days took place on 13 May 2026 under the theme of "Artificial Intelligence." As part of the event, leading representatives from the industry shared their knowledge, experiences, and insights on the impact of artificial intelligence on the tourism and aviation sectors.

Within the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program session, Vatan Jet General Manager Aykut Moroğlu and Quality and Safety Systems Manager İhsan Bayram participated as guest speakers. They shared valuable perspectives on the use of artificial intelligence in aviation, digital transformation in operational processes, safety management, and the future of aviation professions.

The event attracted significant interest from our students and concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals, gain up-to-date knowledge, and broaden their perspectives on future career opportunities in the aviation sector.

Gülden Üzer, Weight and Balance Specialist at Hitit Airline Solutions, delivered a practical training session in which she shared with our students the importance of aircraft weight and balance calculations in operational processes.

Hitit Airline Solutions provides next-generation software solutions for the airline and travel industries, including reservation, ticketing, check-in, and passenger services. With its “one-stop-shop” approach, Hitit serves airlines worldwide by meeting their diverse operational needs through a single integrated platform.

As part of the "Apprentices Ask the Masters" event organized by the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program, retired SunExpress Cabin Chief and Instructor Figen Öksüz met with our students.

During the event, students received both theoretical and hands-on training on Unruly Passenger Management and the use of the Restraint Kit, two essential components of cabin safety. Drawing on her extensive industry experience, Figen Öksüz shared valuable insights into handling disruptive passengers, effective crew coordination, and ensuring the safety and security of everyone on board.

The practical training was met with great interest from our students and concluded with an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with valuable professional knowledge and real-world experience.

Kaan Şenli, Group Manager of Technical Safety at Pegasus Airlines, joined our Safety Management Systems course as a guest speaker. Sharing his professional knowledge and experience in aviation safety culture, risk management, and safety reporting systems, Şenli provided our students with valuable insights into the critical role of safety in sustainable aviation.

Managers from İzmir TGS Ground Services met with our students. Operations Manager Halis Çapanoğlu, Passenger Services Manager Naime Oruç, Passenger Services Supervisor Fulya Dikmener, and Ramp Services Supervisor Birsoy Taşdemir discussed ground handling operations from the perspectives of different departments and shared their professional experiences. The session also provided valuable insights to guide our students in their future career journeys.

The Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program at the İzmir University of Economics Vocational School held its annual "Cabin Crew on the Ground, Everything in the Sky" event, providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they acquired throughout the semester.

Held in the program's mock-up cabin classroom, the event featured demonstrations of essential cabin crew competencies, including safety demonstrations, emergency procedures, passenger welcoming, in-flight catering services, cabin announcements, and crew coordination. The event was attended by the university's administrators, academic staff, and administrative personnel, allowing students to showcase their skills in a realistic cabin environment.

Supporting the program's practice-oriented approach to education, "Cabin Crew on the Ground, Everything in the Sky" enabled students to transform their theoretical knowledge into practical experience while further developing the professional competencies required for their future careers in the aviation industry.

Zeynep Uyaroğlu, a recent graduate of our university and currently working as a Sales and Payment Consultant at ATÜ Duty Free, met with our students to share her experiences and insights into the aviation industry. Drawing on her educational background and professional journey in aviation management, Uyaroğlu provided valuable information about job search processes, career planning, professional development opportunities, and current trends in the sector.

Reflecting on the experience she has gained since graduation, Uyaroğlu discussed the challenges and opportunities she encountered during her studies, as well as the key decisions that shaped her career path. Her presentation offered students practical guidance and inspiration as they prepare for their own professional futures.

Students actively participated in the session by asking questions about industry expectations, career opportunities, and workplace realities, gaining first-hand insights from a young professional working in the field.

The event provided a productive learning environment that contributed to students’ career planning and strengthened their connection with the aviation industry. At the end of the program, students thanked Uyaroğlu for sharing her experiences and commemorated the occasion with a group photograph.
