Erasmus Student Mobility for Placements
Students studying in associate degree programmes can benefit from Erasmus Student Internship Mobility programme. Erasmus Student Internship Mobility programme is the process of students receiving vocational training and/or gaining work experience within a business or organisation in another country.
Please follow https://oia.ieu.edu.tr/tr/announcements/type/all website regularly for current announcements.
Placement periods:
Students who will be placed within the scope of Erasmus Student Internship Mobility have the right to do internship for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months. For short-term vocational education programmes (associate degree), this period can be at least 2 weeks.
Who should be the host organisations?
The placement activity can be carried out with organisations such as enterprises, training centres and research centres. However, placement activities cannot be carried out with European Union institutions and agencies, organisations that run the EU programme and receive grants within this scope, and diplomatic missions in the host country.
How do I find an internship?
After deciding on the country, sector and company you want to work in, you can send your application letter, CV with photo and portfolio, if any, to the relevant address via mail or e-mail. When sending your application, please emphasise that it is within the scope of Erasmus+ Student Internship Mobility and that you will benefit from the grant programme. You can search the announcements on https://erasmusintern.org/traineeships. To search within the scope of the Vocational School, do not forget to tick the ‘short cycle or equivalent’ option in the ‘degree’ section from the left side menu.

Application, selection and announcement process:
Students apply to the International Relations Office between the announced dates after contacting the institutions they want to do internship directly and obtaining their internship approvals. The applications are evaluated by the commission affiliated to the Rectorate and the results are announced.
Selection criteria:
The scoring system used in internship selection is 50% GPA (at least 2.20 out of 4.00), 50% foreign language score.
Financial support:
Students have the opportunity to receive financial support from the European Commission for their stay abroad within the programme. The amount of the monthly grant is determined each year by the National Agency and announced in the Application Manual. The financial support is non-refundable and is not intended to cover all the costs of the students, but only to help with additional costs within the programme. The exponential increase in demand for Erasmus can lead to cuts in the amount of grants distributed by the National Agency and there is a possibility that institutions may not receive the amount of grants requested each year. In such a case, the National Agency responds to the call for additional grants. In case the additional grant cannot be allocated, the selected students can benefit from the internship activity ‘without grant’ if they wish.
Process after selection;
After being selected, students prepare the Training Agreement and Quality Commitment document (after completing the necessary signatures), which must be approved by both Izmir University of Economics and the institution where they will do their internship, and submit it to the International Relations Office. Students who will benefit from the Internship Mobility programme with a grant, submit their Euro account number information to the International Relations Office through a petition and a grant agreement is signed with them according to this information. Following the signing of the grant agreement, 70% of the total grant amount to be received by the students is transferred to the specified Euro account numbers.
Foreign students who wish to do an internship at our university should apply to the International Relations Office by submitting their draft business plans.
If an official document regarding the Erasmus+ Internship Agreement of Izmir University of Economics is requested, you can submit the document on the website ‘https://phoenix.ieu.edu.tr/betanix/uploads/cms/oia.ieu.edu.tr/5422_1616146836.pdf’.
