Having the opportunity to introduce themselves to the business world and learn what they are curious about, 50 students from IUE held bilateral meetings with 120 company representatives on the first day of the fair. At the end of the fair, the number of bilateral meetings between the business world and students is aimed to reach 400.
Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Yavuz Selim Köşger, Governor of Izmir, Tunç Soyer, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Selami Özpoyraz President of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Council (IZTO), and Oğuz Özkardeş, IZTO Board Member also visited the booth of IUE students. IUE students, who have prepared one of the most remarkable booths by preparing for the fair for a long time, also made the visitors watch the promotional film about Turkey with virtual reality glasses (VR Glasses).
WE TURNED IT INTO AN OPPORTUNITY
Edit Habif, Lecturer of IUE Tourism and Hotel Management Program, stated that they turned the fair held in Fuar Izmir, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Commerce, into an opportunity for their students. Habif said, “We also attach great importance to students' communication with the business world during their studies in addition to good theoretical education. We constantly update our understanding of education by closely following technological developments and trends in tourism. We are also improving our applied education system. Collaborations are developed throughout the Vocational School in line with this goal, and a suitable environment is created for all students. We also wanted to take part in an important fair like Travel Turkey Izmir, held with large turnout. We received a lot of positive feedback from the business world.”
IT BECAME A BRIDGE BETWEEN STUDENTS AND THE BUSINESS WORLD
Habif continued as follows: “Our students gave great importance to the event and took part in the fair as a complete team. They stood at the booth alternately and talked to company representatives and had the opportunity to introduce themselves while asking what they were wondering about. They had a very productive day for their career planning. The booth we opened at the fair became a bridge between the business world and our students. We will continue to take part in events in Izmir and Turkey in the upcoming period.”
