Unforgettable Experience at the Airport
Students of Civil Air Transportation Management and Civil Aviation Cabin Services Programs at Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) organized a technical visit to Istanbul Airport hosted by the world-famous airline Emirates. IUE students had an unforgettable experience exploring the Emirates Airbus A-380 aircraft, touring the apron, learning about check-in procedures, and receiving information on various aspects from baggage delivery to passenger jet bridges. The collaboration with Emirates, a first of its kind in Turkey, provided IUE Vocational School students with the opportunity to meet and learn from experts in their field.
AN EXEMPLARY INITIATIVE
Emre Küheylan, Director of IUE Vocational School, emphasized their continuous support for students throughout their career journey, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future. Noting that the collaboration with Emirates is an exemplary initiative in this regard, Küheylan expressed their commitment to continue their work with an innovative and creative educational approach. Küheylan stated that the Istanbul program was highly productive for students and extended gratitude to Mehmet Gürkaynak, General Manager of Emirates Turkey-Romania-Bulgaria, Çelik Sipahi, Emirates Station Manager, Salih Kallioğulları, Emirates Airline Station Supervisor, and the staff of Emirates Airline and Çelebi Ground Services for their interest and support.
COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION
Providing detailed information about the students' examinations, Lecturers Halil Emrah Aydın and Çiğdem Bilal said, “Our students were informed about online check-in, baggage delivery, baggage limits, dangerous goods, ticketing, and other related topics. Additionally, they observed the aircraft's parking position, marshalling procedures, and the docking of passenger jet bridges. Afterwards, they visited the Emirates Airbus A380-800 aircraft in groups of 10. They had the chance to witness cargo loading and unloading operations, catering operations, and fuel replenishment processes after the aircraft was lowered onto the apron for the underbelly experience. Following the apron experience, students were taken to baggage claim areas where they learned what to do in case of lost, forgotten, or damaged luggage. This comprehensive technical visit provided our students with a valuable experience.”
