Before the Internship

Does our university place students in internships?

Our university students are responsible for finding their own internship placements. However, we announce internship requests from institutions through the university's web mail. To stay informed, regularly check your web mail (name.surname@std.ieu.edu.tr).

Is there a form I need to take when going for an interview at the institution I am applying for an internship?

Some institutions may request a letter stating that your internship is mandatory and that your insurance premiums are covered by our university. In such cases, you can use the MANDATORY INTERNSHIP APPLICATION FORM. Fill in the "Student Information" and "Business Information" sections, and bring it to the Student Dean's Office for an official document number and signature.

The institution I applied to is asking for a letter stating that my internship is mandatory, and the insurance premium is covered by our university. Where can I get this letter?

For this purpose, you can use the MANDATORY INTERNSHIP APPLICATION FORM. Fill in the "Student Information" and "Business Information" sections, and bring it to the Student Dean's Office for an official document number and signature.

I will be interning at an institution outside the city/country. Is it necessary to bring a signed INTERNSHIP ACCEPTANCE FORM?

No, a wet signature is not required. Internship acceptance forms sent via fax are also accepted.

Which institution and department should I intern at to have my internship accepted?

The institutions accepted by departments and the departments within the institutions may vary. Before going to an institution, consult with your department's Internship Committee.

How can I find out about my department's Internship Committee?

You can find the list of academics in your department's Internship Committee at http://kariyer.ieu.edu.tr.

How can I access the forms I will use during my mandatory internships?

You can access the Internship Guide and forms at http://kariyer.ieu.edu.tr.

Should I fill out the forms on the computer or by hand?

You can fill out the forms either on the computer or by hand. It is acceptable to use black and white printouts of the forms.

Insurance Premium

The institution I applied to for an internship says that the university must pay the insurance premium. Does our university pay the insurance premium?

In accordance with Law No. 5510, Work Accident and Occupational Disease Premiums are paid by our university.

To enable our university to pay the insurance premium, you must fulfill the INSURANCE PROCESS, located at the back of the form.

Will the paid insurance premiums be counted towards my retirement days?

No, according to Law No. 5510, the paid insurance premium covers only "Work Accident and Occupational Disease."

I have my own SSK registration. Since the university will pay the insurance premium for my internship, do I need to make my own payment for that month?

The university only pays the work accident and occupational disease premium. During the month of your internship, you can continue to pay your insurance for retirement days.

I am covered by my family's Retirement Fund/Bağ-Kur. Will insurance still be done?

Unless you are registered under your own name with the Retirement Fund or BAĞ-KUR, the Work Accident and Occupational Disease premium will be paid by the university.

I have completed my mandatory internships before. However, I found an institution where I can do voluntary internships, and they are asking for the payment of the insurance premium. What can I do?

Our university supports all internships that students undertake for their personal development. However, the insurance premium can only be paid if the insurance process is completed before the internship. Writing a report after the internship is not required unless requested by the internship committee.

I will do my internship abroad; will my insurance be paid?

The insurance premiums of students doing internships abroad are not covered.

During the Internship

Can I do my internship with summer school?

It is not accepted to do an internship along with summer school.

Can I do my internship during the semester break?

Internships in the translation field are not recommended in the first year. In other fields, first-year students can also do internships during the semester break.

How many days do I need to attend the internship?

The required duration for the internship is specified in weeks. If the institution where you are interning also works on Saturdays, you must be present on that day as if you were an employee of that institution.

After the Internship

Where can I get the necessary information to write my internship report?

You must write the internship report according to the rules and questions in the INTERNSHIP GUIDE. You can access the Internship Guide from the program page.

Does every page of the internship report need to be stamped?

Every page of the internship report must be stamped (see IEU Internship Guide pages 7 and 8). Additionally, the envelope cover containing the Intern Evaluation Form must also be stamped by the institution.

Do I have to submit my internship report within a week after the internship is completed?

Yes, internship reports must be submitted to the internship committee within one week after the internship.

What do I need to do rather than keeping a daily internship file like my friends in other universities?

In Izmir University of Economics, a daily internship diary is not filled out for the Mandatory Internship course. At the end of the internship, a report written according to the rules and questions in the Internship Guide is required.

Can I send my internship report by mail?

Yes, you can. However, the responsibility for reports not delivered in person is not accepted by the university.
