Important Notes About Internships
- Consider your internship as a significant opportunity to develop and showcase yourself; take the job seriously and demonstrate your eagerness.
- Carefully choose the area in which you want to intern. Decide what interests you, where your strengths lie, and in which field you want to progress. If possible, intern in different departments to more clearly discover your own abilities.
- Pay attention to your address. Address your supervisor or managers as "Mr." or "Ms." unless otherwise specified. Always strive to learn more than what is assigned to you
- gain knowledge about the industry, how things are done in the company, tasks in different departments, and the company culture. People will likely perceive you as a student who will leave in a few weeks; do your best to convey to them that you have potential during your time there.
- Observe as much as you can. Pay close attention to how people talk on the phone, communicate with each other, and observe their interactions.
- Speak with individuals in the role you aspire to in the company, learn from their experiences and expertise. During your internship, don't forget to add new contacts to your professional network and stay in touch with those who might be involved in hiring for full-time positions.
- Try to convey to your managers and HR personnel that you want to stay in the company and demonstrate what you can contribute. During your student years, try not to miss events like "Career Days." These activities provide a chance to get to know companies up close and clarify your goals a bit more. Even after your internship ends, don't sever your communication with the people in the company.
- Don't wait until the last minute to apply for internships. Especially in high-demand firms summer internship acceptances are often made in January-February.
