Course Objectives The aim of this practice-oriented course is to provide students with experience in English-Turkish subtitle translation under professional working environment conditions.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • perform English-Turkish subtitle translations;
  • perform Turkish-English subtitle translations;
  • translate English articles and digital subtitle sentences into Turkish;
  • translate Turkish articles and digital subtitle sentences into English;
  • use audio-visual translation applications.
Course Description The course involves analyzing through articles, lectures, and digital subtitle program sampling and students will learn about subtitle translation norms and technical specifications. There are also readings and discussions on concepts such as cultural value transfer through subtitles, competence, and acceptability in audio-visual translation.
