On the date of October 20, 2023, an informative meeting was held with the participation of Vocational School (MYO) students. During this meeting, Instructor Dr. Kenan Demirel provided information about Erasmus+ internship opportunities and the Fulbright MYO scholarship. Students actively participated in the event by asking questions, and they became aware of the international scholarship opportunities offered within MYO.

The students of the Applied English Translation program have conducted the semester's kickoff meeting. During the meeting, various topics were discussed, including the required courses for students, elective courses outlined in the curriculum, and the internship process. We wish all our students a successful academic year ahead.

Turizm Günleri (Tourism Days) was held on May 11, 2023, at the Conference Hall of Izmir Economics University. The event was organized by the Travel and Language Programs Coordination. Prominent figures from the tourism, aviation and translation/interpreting industry attended the event. The panel guests for the Applied English Translation Program were Interpreter and Lecturer Alev Tison, Translator and member of the Translators Association of the Aegean Region, Soner Üstün, Osman Kürşat Serttürk, and Interpreter Barış Yıldırım.

In the session titled "Crisis Management in Translation/Interpreting," the speakers shared their ideas and experiences regarding crises that occur in various translation fields and how to manage them. In addition to students from the Applied English Translation Program, students from Balçova Anatolian High School specializing in language studies also participated as listeners.

During the workshop on interpreting led by interpreter and lecturer Asiye Öztürk (PhD), interpreter Barış Yıldırım, students from the high school and the translation program had the opportunity to engage in a simulation of oral translation.

In the online session conducted by the Experiential Free Translator Nalan Bozan, who participated in the Ceraklar Ustalara Asks Event on 12.04.2023, the students of the Applied English Translation Program shared the features of the free translator, which areas were preferred, the equipment needed to be acquired in this process. In the session, which was enthusiastically followed by the audience and found very useful, students learned about freelance internship and employment opportunities for translation graduates.

Damla Kaleş, lecturer of the Applied English Translation Program, organized a 2.5-hour subtitled translation workshop with students and English teachers from the 12th class of Balçova Anadolu High School at the Interpreting and Written Translation Laboratory on April 12, 2023. In this workshop, high school students became acquainted with the translation of subtitles and captured the opportunity to do animated translations through related programs Students were very pleased to leave the workshop, which was quite effective and fun.

Veronique Özkaya, the CEO of the globally renowned language services and solutions company Argos Multilingual, participated in an online session in English at the "Apprentices Ask the Masters" event held on March 29, 2023. During the session, which was eagerly followed by the audience and deemed very beneficial, Özkaya shared Argos Multilingual's fields of work, including localization in translation, content writing, quality control, and re-creation, with students of the Applied English Translation program. Students also gained information about employment opportunities for interns and translation graduates.

Furthermore, Özkaya addressed individual awareness, self-confidence, self-realization, and teamwork, which are highly valued in the business world. During the presentation, it was mentioned that students could join the team as interns at Argos Multilingual, which also has a branch in İzmir, and that language graduates could have employment opportunities in similar international language solutions companies through remote work.

Sibel Şenol, experienced game translator and Lockpick Game Localization and Dubbing Company General Manager, who participated in the "Students Consulting Experts" event held on 26.12.2022, gave information about game localization translation and project management and talked about the important elements of taking a role in this field in the sector. He informed the students about the correction stages, effective writing in English and Turkish, and job opportunities in the field of localization in the sector.

Experienced Editor and Adaptor Elifnur Uysal Atalay, who participated in the "Students Asking the Experts" event held on 29.11.2022, gave information about localization and translation and talked about the important elements of taking a role as an editor and adaptor in the sector. Uysal Atalay, informed the students about the editing stages, effective writing in English and Turkish, and job opportunities in the field of localization in the sector.

Within the body of Izmir University of Economics Vocational School, a counseling meeting was held with our students enrolled in the Applied English and Translation (English) program before education and training in the 2022-2023 fall semester, as it is before every academic term. At this meeting, program coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Filiz Mergen gave an orientation presentation to the students enrolled in the program on academic counseling, general information about courses, grading and other issues.

The second of the "Students Consulting Experts" event was held on 27.05.2022 with the participation of the Literary Translator Bülent Doğan.
